Transitioning Your Table From One Season to Another
Fall is just around the corner, and it’s time to trade in some of your light and airy spring or summer decor for the warmer earthy tones of the fall season. Transitioning your tablescape from one season to another is a breeze with a few simple modifications!
Let’s begin with our spring table. You can see here that I established a cool-toned blue-gray color palette with touches of wood rattan and lots of pretty spring/summer florals.
It is no longer spring/summer and I would like to turn my light and airy tablescape into something with a little more warmth and richness for fall. So how can I do that? Well, for starters, I can change my overall color palette from cool tones to warm tones.
Update Place Settings
Next, I swapped out my rattan placemats, galvanized chargers and table runner with frayed cotton placemats in a worn pumpkin color. In lieu of the white hobnail plates, I selected cream-toned plates, each topped with a terracotta soup bowl. For a fun seasonal element, I added a mini pumpkin and pine cone to every other bowl.
For my spring table, I used napkins that were fresh and fluffy with their light gray-blue and white trim. To make the transition to fall, I wanted something a little more simple and understated with muted fall colors. The cool silver tone of the spring/summer utensils can make the switch to a brushed gold perfectly in keeping with the new season. The clear glass tumblers can stay the same.
Revamp Your Centerpiece
Another big way to transition a tablescape from one season to the next is with the centerpiece decor. In this case, I am going to use the same large rustic dough bowl and rattan balls for the centerpiece and just implement a new candle and florals that are more appropriate for the current season. Easy peasy!
This is how we go from this:
