Walnut
The wood of walnut varies from light to dark chocolate brown in color with easily distinguishable heart and sapwood. The sapwood is grey-white to reddish-white while the heartwood is light grey, mouse-grey to dark brown with occasional colored stripes (watermarks) depending upon age and location. The wood is generally straight-grained, but sometimes has wavy or curly grain that produces a variety of attractive and decorative figures. Walnut Janka Hardness Rating = 1010.

Rustic Walnut is most known for its allowance of small knots, pin knots, mineral, and other natural characteristics (i.e. occasional worm holes). Color variations may range from creamy white sapwood to brown heartwood.
