The spalting of maple wood is a result of a natural, environmental process that causes changes in the appearance and color of the grain. The resulting coloration adds even more character and interest to the beautiful wood pieces.
This lovely dining table is made from a slab of spalted maple wood -chosen for the unique markings that give it even more character. It is handmade into a table by our select woodworkers in the Midwest whose crafting techniques are second to none. For this table, we chose to have Dolphin Gray placed in the naturally occurring crevices of the wood. We love the way it highlighted the table's uniqueness by creating a contrast between the wood and epoxy! A pre-catalyzed polyurethane was applied as a finish to help protect the wood from the demands of daily use.
Supporting the solid maple tabletop is a set of black powder-coated steel legs connected by a solid wood timber beam. This rustic beam not only adds to the beauty of the table but also functions as an overall stabilizer.
