How to Decorate a Summer Table
Sweet summertime is right around the corner. A time when the sun shines just a little bit longer, bedtime gets pushed back a little bit later and the temperature is a whole lot warmer.
Weeknight evenings packed with homework and sporting practice have largely come to an end and leisurely meals around the family table, either outside or in, have taken their place.
Whether you are dining down-the-shore at your family’s vacation destination or at your home a little farther inland, I have a perfect, easy, “feels like you’re at the beach” summer table for you to recreate and enjoy.
I started the summer table design by using our beautiful Pathway solid wood extendable dining table in a Provincial stain and added a light and airy table runner in a fun striped pattern, trimmed with fringe in a fresh coastal color scheme.
Next, I topped our runner with a rustic pair of antique oars which really help elevate the beachy vibe and give a lovely little nod to the nautical.
Aboard the oars, we layered in a couple of rattan hurricanes with soft gray toned candles as well as some scattered seashells that perhaps might help depict a story to dinner guests of a day well-spent treasure hunting on the beach.
We adorned our gorgeous nautical tablescape with finishing touches by layering in some light textured rattan placemats, hardy galvanized chargers, casual yet elegant white hobnail plates, chunky glass water tumblers, and brushed silverware. Finally, our pin-striped napkins were tied in a sailor’s overhand knot and tucked with a sprig of pussy willow to connect the place settings to the centerpiece.
If you enjoyed the Pathway table, you'll love its complementary reclaimed wood dining chairs to tie the dining table together.
Thanks for stopping by! We hope that you love our summer tablescape idea and please let us know if you choose to create something similar in your own home!
