“Bee Inspired” Summer Table Inspiration
Can you believe it?! Summer is almost here! FINALLY! I don’t know about you, but for me, the winter season felt impossibly long this year. And here on the East Coast, spring has taken its good ol’ time heating up so I will be welcoming the sunshine and warmth of summer with open arms.
Over at Rustic Red Door, Co. I've already been working on decorating our warehouse for the season. That means that I have some summer table inspiration and recommendations to share with you! If you are local, be sure to stop by for a visit our warehouse in person!
The past few tables I’ve decorated have highlighted a few of our barnwood selections so we chose to switch it up this time with a new beautiful walnut plank-style top table, named the Beckett.
The Beckett has a naturally sleek look with its black glaze and low sheen which allowed me to go a little more “glam” than I usually do. I absolutely love how it turned out, and I think you'll find that you do too. Watch the video to learn more about the Beckett table.
How to Create A Summer Bee Table
Friends, let me go ahead and take you step-by-step through how I built this summer’s tablescape so that you can re-create it at home. This table is designed to celebrate one of the season's staples - the bee!
Table Runner
I began by layering two table runners down the center of the table. The slate table runner on the bottom is wider than the white and gold windowpane-patterned runner on top. These layers allow for a lovely depth of color. Both runners have a fringed edge for consistency.
Centerpiece
Next, I found these gorgeous navy lanterns, each with a gold-finished handle and base. These lanterns were the perfect addition to really up the “glam factor” that I alluded to earlier. Inside of each lantern, I tucked a beautiful cream-colored beeswax pillar candle to encourage a little sparkle and pop.
Place Settings
Another way that I implemented a little glamor into our tablescape, (while paying homage to the bees), was by setting the table with these absolutely stunning honeycomb trimmed plates as well as shiny gold silverware. I love the warm detail these bring to the place settings.
Because we wouldn’t be Rustic Red Door without our signature rustic vibe, the place settings sit atop some of my favorite round-textured placemats. These enhance the relaxed summer vibe I was going for.
Accessories
To complete the design, I adorned our centerpiece and white linen napkins with some lovely dried florals in complementary colors. I love the seasonal element that these florals add to the table.
For a touch of whimsy, I finished with a cute little honey pot and a couple of beehive salt and pepper shakers in pewter and gold. These sweet details really bring the "bee" theme together. Side note, when I saw these sweet little shakers in the store, I knew that they would be at the heart of this year’s summer table, and "viola!"...this is how my “Bee Inspired” theme was born. Such an awesome find!
And that’s this year’s summer tablescape inspiration. It’s kind of a mix of all of summer’s best items…a little sparkle and shine…a little casual and cool…and finally a little smidge of whimsy to put a smile on your face.
